So, in 1998 after first carrying out research to find some of the most commonly expressed needs of those caring for a disabled child, I established Fledglings to help families to find simple, affordable solutions to day to day difficulties.

Today, almost 12 years on, Fledglings is a registered national charity with primary purpose trading, which means that our main purpose in supplying products is to give relief to a disabled child or carer rather than to make a profit. We have a staff team of 6 and a small dedicated vounteer team. We provide a telephone and email Helpline, a mail order brochure and a regular e-Newsletter and have a mailing list of over 10,000 families and caring organisations.  Our helpline is always busy as we find new products and receive feedback from users, many of whom, to our great satisfaction, return time after time. With the help of other professionals and our very many regular service users, we plan to continue to grow and improve our information and product supply service, so that no disabled young person is prevented from achieving his or her potential through lack of helpful product knowledge.
