Over the past four years Fledglings has seen a steady growth in the number of families contacting us for affordable solutions to the everyday difficulties of caring for their children. These include requests for help with feeding, dressing and toilet training children with disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy to Downs syndrome and autism. Last year Fledglings dealt with over 7,500 such requests.

Fledglings is here to help children overcome the problems caused by any type of disability, illness or special need. We hear of countless examples of families whose lives have been enriched and children who can now enjoy activities like swimming as a result of information and products supplied by Fledglings.

It is not surprising that demand for our help has grown rapidly as members recommend us to other parents and professionals and we believe that we are the only charity in the country offering this breadth of service.

We have just come to the end of a three year grant from the National Lottery at a time when we are experiencing an increased demand for our services. Although a lot of our work is carried out by volunteers, it is essential that we have skilled paid staff to deal effectively with this growing and continuing need.
