Fundraising

There are lots of ways in which you could help us to do more of our work, and with many of them you can have some fun at the same time!

With a little help from your friends?

We know that some people like doing fundraising events, but that not everyone has the time, especially with a special child to care for.  Maybe someone you know - a friend, relative or colleague - would be prepared to lend a hand?  Some people have a real knack for organising things, could you get them on board for Fledglings?  Here are some ideas you might like to think about, and do bear in mind that we'll be happy to help with ideas, background information about Fledglings, wording for letters and so on.

·      Employers: many companies have a "Charity of the Year" or "Charity of the Month" - why not nominate Fledglings?  Or maybe there's a social club or committee.

·      Collections: there are many events at which a collection is taken and donated to a charity, or a share of the proceeds.  You could ask for Fledglings to be the recipient.  For example:

o       Church services

o       A concert given by a local choir or band

o       School events

o       Amateur art exhibitions

o       Golf tournaments

·      Sponsored events: an old favourite that still works really well:

o       It could be running, walking, abseiling, skydiving, swimming

o       If you know someone who regularly does events, maybe they could choose Fledglings next time?

·      Things to do at work: ok some of these are a bit cheesy, but they do work!

o       Dress-down day which people pay for

o       Fine box for swearing or turning up late at meetings

o       Quiz night - get the grey cells going!

o       Organise a treasure hunt

o       Ask the boss if you could put something on the website

·    Social organisations and clubs: many organisations have as one of their main priorities to make charitable donations.  Very often they will respond most favourably to an approach from someone local.  They include:

o       Round Table

o       Rotary Clubs

o       Lions

o       Masonic lodges

·      Organise a fundraising event: here are just a few ideas:

o       Auction of promises

o       Bring and buy sale, maybe at a church or community centre

o       Dinner - cook a special dinner for donations

o       Pub crawl - how about fancy dress?

o       Car wash - maybe a local supermarket would allow you to use their car park?

·      Local charities and trusts: you or a friend might know of one, or might even know someone who's a trustee.  It's well worth asking if they could consider a grant to Fledglings - we can provide the "words" if you need to write.
