The TomTag Mass & Church Visual Support Set, created in collaboration with Fledglings, helps children, including those with additional needs, understand and feel more confident during church services.
TomTag visual timelines, schedules and reminders provide clear structure and guidance, helping individuals understand what is happening and what to expect. This can be particularly helpful in environments such as church or community events, where routines may be less familiar.
Using Widgit symbols, the set provides simple visual cues that many children already recognise from school and home settings, supporting understanding and communication in a calm and accessible way.
This set has been carefully developed to reflect real experiences within church services. It helps children understand key moments such as sitting, standing, listening, singing, and receiving Communion, as well as recognising people, objects and familiar elements within church.
It can also support understanding when other children leave for Children’s Liturgy of the Word and return later.
Everything is ready to go with TomTag’s colourful, sturdy tags, click-in buttons and symbol stickers.
Many children enjoy choosing and placing their own stickers, helping them feel involved and more likely to use the system.

This visual support set can be particularly helpful for children with additional needs, including autistic children or those who are non-verbal, who may benefit from clear structure and visual communication. It can support children who find church services overwhelming, struggle with changes in routine, or need help understanding what is happening during Mass.
