DMO® Essentials Child Shorts

The DMO® Essentials Child Shorts are ready-to-wear orthotic shorts designed to support lower-limb function, posture and stability. They offer benefits similar to DMO® made-to-measure shorts but are available in a range of predetermined child sizes.

Targeted compression and reinforcement provide structured support through the core, pelvis, hips and upper legs. This specialist design is intended to improve pelvic stability, encourage hip and knee extension and help reduce excessive internal hip rotation.

Who & What It’s Suitable For

The DMO® Essentials Child Shorts may be suitable for children who require additional support with pelvic stability, lower-limb alignment, posture or walking patterns.

They may be recommended for children with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, low muscle tone, impaired walking patterns, traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease or Huntington’s disease. They may also be suitable where improved hip and knee extension, reduced internal hip rotation or reduced scissoring during gait is required.

As orthotic compression garments may not be suitable for every child, the shorts should be selected and used following guidance from an appropriate healthcare or therapy professional, particularly where there are circulatory, skin, medical or mobility concerns.
