The DMO® Essentials Child Vest is a ready-to-wear orthotic vest designed to support posture through the shoulders, trunk and arms. It offers benefits similar to the DMO® Custom made-to-measure vest but is available in a range of predetermined sizes.
Carefully positioned reinforcement panels provide targeted support across the upper body. This structured design is intended to encourage shoulder retraction, improve the position of the shoulder complex and provide additional trunk support during everyday movement and activity.
By supporting posture and upper-body alignment, the vest may also help improve distal function, including control and movement through the arms and hands. Its ready-made sizing provides a practical alternative where a fully bespoke garment is not required.
The DMO® Essentials Child Vest may be suitable for children who require additional support with upper-body posture, shoulder positioning, trunk stability or arm function.
It may be recommended for children with cerebral palsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebellar ataxia or Ehlers-Danlos syndromes. It may also be suitable where improved shoulder retraction, trunk support, upper-body alignment or distal function is required.
As orthotic compression garments may not be suitable for every child, the vest should be selected and used following guidance from an appropriate healthcare or therapy professional, particularly where there are respiratory, circulatory, skin, medical or mobility concerns.
