The DMO® Sensory Child Leggings are close-fitting compression leggings designed for children who may benefit from increased proprioceptive feedback and improved body awareness. The specialist fabric applies consistent deep pressure through the skin, helping the child better recognise their body’s position, movement and actions.
This additional proprioceptive input may support self-regulation, calmness and attention, helping some children settle and engage more effectively during everyday activities. The leggings are also designed to support core stability and midline orientation, making them suitable for use at home, in school and during therapy or activity sessions.
Made from a breathable, washable polycotton fabric, the leggings have outside seams to reduce irritation against the skin. They are designed to be worn next to the skin and can gradually be built up to comfortable all-day wear.
The leggings are available with either an open crotch or a closed crotch. The open crotch option can provide easier access for toileting and personal care, while the closed crotch option offers full coverage.
The DMO® Sensory Child Leggings should be worn next to the skin. Wear time should be increased gradually during the first week, doubling the length of time each day until the leggings can be worn throughout the day.
The garment should feel close-fitting without causing pain or restricting circulation. Use should be stopped and professional advice sought if the child experiences persistent discomfort, skin irritation, changes in circulation or any other concerning symptoms.
The DMO® Sensory Child Leggings may be suitable for children who require additional compression and proprioceptive feedback to support body awareness, self-regulation and postural stability. They may be particularly helpful for children who find it difficult to recognise their body position, seek deep-pressure input or become unsettled during classroom, home or therapy activities.
As compression garments may not be suitable for every child, advice should be obtained from an appropriate healthcare or therapy professional when there are medical, circulatory, skin or mobility concerns.
