The DMO® Sensory Child Vest is a close-fitting compression vest designed for children who may benefit from increased proprioceptive feedback and improved body awareness. The specialist fabric applies consistent deep pressure through the skin, helping the child recognise their body’s position, movement and actions.
This additional proprioceptive input may support self-regulation and provide a calming, organising effect. Improved body awareness may also help support core stability, midline orientation, body alignment and spatial awareness during everyday activities.
By supporting awareness of the upper body and trunk, the vest may assist with movements involving fine and gross motor control. It is made from a breathable, washable polycotton fabric and features outside seams to help reduce irritation against the skin.
The DMO® Sensory Child Vest should be worn next to the skin. Wear time should be increased gradually during the first week, doubling the length of time each day until the vest can be worn throughout the day.
The garment should feel close-fitting without causing pain or restricting breathing or circulation. Use should be stopped and professional advice sought if the child experiences persistent discomfort, skin irritation, changes in circulation or any other concerning symptoms.
The DMO® Sensory Child Vest may be suitable for children who require additional compression and proprioceptive feedback to support body awareness, self-regulation and postural stability.
It may be helpful for children who seek deep-pressure input or experience difficulties with core stability, midline orientation, spatial awareness, body alignment or controlled movement. The vest can be worn during everyday activities at home, school or within therapy settings.
As compression garments may not be suitable for every child, advice should be obtained from an appropriate healthcare or therapy professional where there are medical, respiratory, circulatory, skin or mobility concerns.
