Lockable Window & Door Cable Restrictor

Lockable Window & Door Cable Restrictor

£9.99
Fixing Type: Screw-Fixed – Oval

The Lockable Window & Door Cable Restrictor provides a simple way to limit how far a window or door can be opened, helping to create a safer environment at home, in schools, care settings and other supported environments.

Fitted between the opening section and surrounding frame, the strong 190 mm cable allows controlled ventilation while helping to prevent the window or door from being opened fully. A key-operated lock means the restrictor can be released by a responsible adult when full access is required.

This can be particularly useful in homes and care environments where a child or adult may open windows or doors without understanding the associated risks, providing an additional layer of environmental safety without permanently preventing access.

Two fitting options are available, allowing the most appropriate version to be selected for the intended installation.

Key Features

  • Limits window and door opening – helps reduce the risk associated with windows or doors being opened too far.
  • Key-lockable design – allows a responsible adult or carer to release the cable when full opening is required.
  • 190 mm cable – provides controlled opening while maintaining a physical restriction.
  • Strong stainless steel cable – manufactured using stainless steel 304 wire for durability.
  • Suitable for windows and doors – designed primarily for UPVC windows and doors and may also be suitable for other appropriate applications.
  • Choice of fitting style – available in screw-fixed or self-adhesive versions.
  • Discreet white finish – designed to blend unobtrusively with many standard white window and door frames.

SEN & Additional Needs Benefits

  • Supports safer environments – may help families and carers manage situations where a child or adult repeatedly opens windows or doors without recognising potential danger.
  • Provides controlled access – the key-operated release keeps control with a responsible adult while still allowing the window or door to be fully opened when appropriate.
  • Useful for additional safety planning – can form part of a wider approach to environmental safety for individuals with learning disabilities, cognitive difficulties or reduced awareness of danger.
  • Maintains some ventilation – allows a window to be partially opened rather than requiring it to remain permanently closed.

Choose Your Fitting

Important Safety & Installation Information

  • This product is intended to provide an additional level of safety and should not replace appropriate adult supervision or individual risk assessment.
  • Installation should be checked carefully to ensure the chosen fixing method is suitable for the particular window, door, frame and surface.
  • The screw-fixed version should only be installed where drilling and mechanical fixing are appropriate for the construction of the window or door.
  • The self-adhesive version requires a clean, suitable surface to achieve an effective bond. Its suitability may vary depending on the surface material and condition.
  • After installation, the restrictor should be tested to ensure it is securely attached and operating correctly before being relied upon.
  • The restrictor and its fixings should be checked regularly for signs of loosening, damage or wear.
  • Keys should be stored securely but remain accessible to responsible adults in case the restrictor needs to be released quickly.
  • Consider emergency escape requirements before fitting a restrictor to any window or door that may form part of an escape route.
  • Children and adults with additional needs who may open windows or doors without fully understanding potential risks.
  • Children with learning disabilities or reduced danger awareness where additional environmental safety measures may be helpful.
  • Individuals with cognitive difficulties who may benefit from restricted access to windows or doors.
  • Families and carers looking to add an extra layer of safety within the home.
  • Schools, residential settings and supported living environments where controlled window or door opening may be required as part of an individual risk assessment.
  • UPVC windows and doors where the chosen fitting method is suitable for the frame and construction.
  • Rooms requiring ventilation with restricted opening rather than keeping the window completely closed.
