Description

The Pretorian Track-IT! Switch-Controlled Scanning Mouse allows a computer cursor and mouse-click functions to be controlled using one or more wired assistive switches. It is designed for people with significant motor difficulties who cannot effectively operate a conventional mouse, trackball or joystick.

A clock-face arrangement of LEDs displays the available directions of cursor movement. In single-switch mode, Track-IT! automatically scans through the cursor directions followed by the four mouse functions. The user activates their switch when the required option is illuminated, then activates it again to move the cursor or perform the selected mouse action.

Users can choose between four-direction and eight-direction cursor movement. Cursor speed, scanning speed and dwell time can all be adjusted to match the user’s response time, accuracy and level of control.

Track-IT! can also be operated with two switches. One switch moves manually through the available options while the second performs the highlighted movement or mouse function. Two additional sockets can provide direct switch access to selected click functions when required.

An optional latching setting allows the cursor to continue moving without the switch being held continuously. The included mounting stand positions the LED display close to the computer screen, helping the user see the scanning choices and on-screen cursor within the same field of view.

How Single-Switch Scanning Works

  1. The LEDs automatically scan through the available cursor directions and mouse functions.
  2. The user activates their switch when the required direction or function is illuminated.
  3. This stops the scanning process on the selected option.
  4. A further switch activation moves the cursor or performs the selected mouse action.
  5. Automatic scanning resumes after the selected period of inactivity.
