Description

The Pretorian Twin SLAT Switch Latch and Timer allows one or two wired assistive switches to control compatible battery-operated toys and other low-voltage equipment. Its two independent output channels and eight operating modes provide flexible options for individual activities, shared play and developing switch-access skills.

Each channel can control a separate toy or device, while the co-operative modes require two switches to be activated together. This makes the Twin SLAT particularly useful for activities that encourage turn-taking, shared attention, communication and co-operation between two users.

Timed activities can be programmed for periods between five seconds and one hour using the two-digit LED display. Direct, latched and timed control can be matched to the activity and the user’s understanding, movement and ability to maintain pressure on a switch.

The Twin SLAT can also alter the behaviour of a switch connected to other compatible assistive-technology equipment. For example, it may add a timed or latched response to a switch used with a suitable AAC device.

Operating Modes

Mode How It Works
Direct The selected output remains active for as long as the corresponding switch is pressed.
Latched One switch activation turns the selected output on and the next turns it off.
Timed One switch activation turns on the selected output for a programmed period between 5 seconds and 1 hour.
Co-Operative Direct Both outputs remain active for as long as both switches are pressed together.
Co-Operative Latched Pressing both switches together turns both outputs on; pressing both together again turns them off.
Co-Operative Timed Pressing both switches together activates both outputs for the programmed period.
On/Off Switch 1 turns on both outputs and Switch 2 turns them off.
Media Timed The output is pulsed at the beginning and end of the selected period for compatible media players and toys with a play/pause function.
