Build confidence in the water with the Orca Adaptive Swim Trainer — an all-in-one, adjustable swim aid for children learning to float, balance and swim independently. Removable buoyancy pads let you reduce support gradually, encouraging a natural swimming position while keeping movement free and comfortable.

Key features & benefits

  • Customisable buoyancy: Removable float pads front & back to taper support as skills improve.
  • Balanced body position: Helps promote horizontal alignment for better technique and stamina.
  • Secure fit for active play: Designed to stay in place during lessons, therapy and pool time.
  • Freedom to move: Arms and legs are unrestricted to practise kicks and strokes.
  • Durable & quick-drying: Built for regular pool use and easy care between sessions.
  • Inclusive design: Suitable for children with additional needs, low muscle tone or water anxiety.

Choosing the right size

Pick the size that matches your child’s chest measurement and typical age/weight range in the size chart (see product images). Aim for a snug, secure fit so the trainer doesn’t ride up. If between sizes, choosing the smaller usually offers better support.

  • How to measure: Use a soft tape around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms, with your child standing naturally.
  • Fit check: With all pads installed, the trainer should feel secure without gaping. Adjust before entering the water.

How it works (progression)

  1. Start with all pads in (back and chest) so your child feels supported and buoyant.
  2. As confidence grows, remove pads gradually — usually back first, then front — to encourage balance and kick strength.
  3. Continue until your child can float and swim unaided for short distances.

Safety & supervision

Important: This is not a life jacket or life-saving device. Use only under constant, competent adult supervision. Start in shallow, safe water and follow pool rules at all times. Never leave a child unattended near water.

Care & cleaning

  • Rinse with fresh water after pool use.
  • Hang to dry away from direct heat and sunlight.
  • Do not machine wash, tumble dry or wring.

Colours & sizes

Available in multiple colours and sizes (see drop-down for current options). Refer to the image size chart for guidance.

What’s included

  • 1 × Orca Adaptive Swim Trainer with removable buoyancy pads (front & back).

FAQs

Is the Orca a replacement for a life jacket?

No. It’s a learn-to-swim aid and not a life-saving device. Supervision is required at all times.

Can I use it in deep water?

Use in safe, supervised settings. Begin in shallow water until your child’s confidence and control improve.

In what order should I remove the pads?

Typically remove back pads first to encourage core balance, then reduce the front pads. Progress gradually based on your child’s comfort and ability.

How tight should it fit?

Comfortably snug, with no gaping at the arm or neck openings. If between sizes, the smaller often provides better support.

Is it suitable for children with additional needs?

Yes — many families and instructors use the Orca in inclusive lessons and water therapy. Always supervise and progress at your child’s pace.
