Here at Fledglings we understand that no matter how hard we try to keep our prices low, products for families with special needs are expensive. Here we have listed some resources that may be able to help with funding. For all of them they will have their own criteria that you will need to meet. Please read the criteria of each carefully.
Their grant rounds support children from birth up to and including 18 years of age who are vulnerable, come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are living with an illness or disability.
The value of a grant is typically from £1,000 to £3,000 but they will happily consider applications for larger amounts. Apply here.
Turn2us is a national charity providing practical help to people who are struggling financially. Turn2us has a grant search tool that may help you fund certain products.
The Chronicle Sunshine Fund provides specialised equipment to children with disabilities in the North East of England, individuals, can ask for their support to improve the lives of children with disabilities.
The Chronicle Sunshine Fund was founded in 1928 by King George V, he came to Newcastle to open the Tyne Bridge. To apply click here.
Wipe Away Those Tears - Essex
A charity which aims to grant a wish and bring a sparkle into the lives of terminally or seriously ill children in Essex. They have no overheads or administration costs, so every penny that is raised goes towards helping very special children

The Boparan Charitable Trust was set up in 2009 to aid children and young people across the nation who are disadvantaged by disability, life limiting conditions or extreme poverty. As a charity they take great pride in taking the time to listen, understand and help families who are often forgotten about or whose needs are not met by the health and social systems. They work directly with families providing financial grants for key items that assist the children. To find out more and apply click here.

PhysCap is a Yorkshire charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children living with physical and learning disabilities, by purchasing specialised equipment and therapeutic equipment. The goal of the charity is to ensure that we always have the funds readily available to help children cope a little better with disabilities and to offer financial assistance whenever the need arises. Our aim is to always be in a position to say YES when requests for help and assistance are received. We are known as the ‘last resort’ when all other doors have been closed. They fund a broad range of specialist equipment including hoists, beds, car seats, sensory and play equipment, assistive and medical technologies. To find out more and apply click here.
NewLife support families through providing grants for things such as waterproof mattresses and specialist bedding. Apply here.
Family Fund provides a wide range of grants to families raising a disabled child. There are set criteria, but for those families who are eligible this is one way of getting help.
Although, adaptive clothing is not listed on their website, you may be able to get funding for items from our website. The application form can be downloaded here.
Please note that when you get to page 7, when you complete the 'Your Grant' section you must specify that you need adaptive clothing, swm or shoes etc. If you do not use the word Adaptive and you are eligble you may get funding for a general clothing shop. Being as specific as you can be in this section including any links will help you get the correct the correct funding.
Emergency Essentials: The application for this needs to be submitted by an authorised referrer and it is likely that someone working with the family will either already be one or eligible to become one.

Product Information
All the products in our brochure, leaflets or shown on our website or any subsequent supplements or amendments thereto, are selected with the intention of helping the care and development of children with additional needs. The descriptions and images of the products supplied are given to assist carers when making decisions about appropriate items to meet their child’s needs, and while we work to ensure that information about the products is correct, actual product specifications, images, colours, packaging and materials may contain variations or more and different information to that displayed. We advise that you do not rely solely on the information in our brochure or on our website and always read the labels, warnings and directions provided with the products. Information and statements about the products are not intended to be used to diagnose, treat or cure any disease or health condition.
Order
By placing an order for the products with us, you are agreeing that you are over the age of 18. All of the products are not for resale and are intended for use by individuals with additional needs and their carers. Your order is binding upon despatch of the products to your nominated delivery address; please refer to Returns and Cancellations below for further details. Please check order emails for accuracy and let us know immediately if there are any errors. Confirmation emails do not constitute acceptance of the order by us. Your order will be accepted by us (and a contract will then be formed between us) when we despatch the goods to you. Title to the goods will pass to you on delivery.
Pricing & Availability
Pricing of the products is correct at the time of publication but we reserve the right to offer an alternative product or amend prices of the products when necessary, and will endeavour to contact you before despatch for your acceptance of the change. If you deem the change to be unacceptable, you always have the right to cancel the order at this stage. We do not hold stock of all items and therefore cannot guarantee availability of the products. We will inform you of availability to the best of our knowledge at the time of ordering and payment, and update you with any amendments to this as and when we receive information from the supplier. When the despatch is delayed by 14 days or more from the original estimated despatch date, you can request a cancellation and full refund of your payment.
Gift Cards
All gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. If not used within this time they will expire automatically.
Payment Terms
For individuals, payment is required at time of order. Payment may be made by credit or debit card through our eshop, or credit card, debit card, cheque, postal order or by BACS directly into Contacts nominated bank account for telephone and mail orders. Organisations can request credit and, if approved, benefit from deferred payment terms. Please contact us for details.
Shipping
Fledglings currently offer shipping to the United Kingdom only. For orders outside the UK please contact us for details.
Second Class Royal Mail shipping is £4.99.
First Class Royal Mail shipping £6.25
Please note: First Class shipping does not guarantee next day delivery. We will ship as stated above, but once the item is with Royal Mail it will be for them to deliver as quickly as they can.
Delivery
Items in stock are normally despatched within 3 to 5 working days of the order being processed. All deliveries will be made to you at the address specified by you at the time of order. Goods remain the property of Fledglings until full payment is received. For more detailed information please refer to our shipping and delivery page.
Returns & Cancellations
If you change your mind or are unhappy with your order, returns and exchanges can be placed within 14 days of receiving your products. We ask that all items returned to us are in a new condition with its original packaging and tags where applicable, in place. Please email us at fledglings@contact.org.uk to let us know that you are returning your order. As we are a charity, returning products to us is at the cost of the customer. We are a not for profit organisation and all purchases made at Fledglings helps the national charity, Contact to continue supporting families of disabled children with expert information and advice. In the unlikely situation that you receive a damaged or faulty item, we will provide you a full refund including the cost of shipping. Once we receive your order at our warehouse and this has been processed we will issue you a refund to your original payment method.
Liability & Losses
We will not be responsible for (a) any business loss (including loss of profits, revenue, contracts, anticipated savings, data, goodwill or wasted expenditure); (b) any losses which were not caused by us; or (c) any losses which were not foreseeable at the time of order.
Alteration of Service or Amendments to the Conditions
We reserve the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions at any time. You will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Purchase in force at the time that you order from us, unless any change to these conditions is required to be made by law or government authority (in which case it will apply to orders previously placed by you). If any of these conditions are deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining conditions.
Events Beyond Our Reasonable Control
We will not be held responsible for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations under these conditions if the delay or failure arises from any cause which is beyond our reasonable control. This condition does not affect your statutory rights.
Governing Law & Jurisdiction
We will communicate with you in English and these conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with English Law. You agree, as we do, to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
Privacy
Fledglings is part of Contact, the charity for families with disabled children. Fledglings services, including its online shop, are subject to Contact's privacy policy. See how we will use your data when you make an online purchase.
Fledglings online shop is hosted by Shopify Inc who enable us to provide product solutions to you via our e-commerce platform. Your data is therefore stored on Shopify’s data storage system and Shopify application via a secure server and firewall.
Sharing of Information with Our Suppliers
Fledglings works with several suppliers who ship products directly from their own warehouse. This means that names and addresses will be passed onto them in a transactional way to enable them to fulfil your order.
